Badminton Association of Iceland (BSÍ) is the governing body of the sport badminton in Iceland. The Association has responsibility for the administration and development of badminton in Iceland and is affiliated to Badminton Europe and Badminton World Federation.
The Association was founded November 5th 1967 and has therefore 40 years anniversary in the year 2007.
About 5.000 people are registered members of the 28 badminton clubs in Iceland (Iceland has 300.000 inhabitants). Around 15 clubs are very active and take regularly part in open tournaments. Badminton is the seventh biggest sport in Iceland. The biggest club, Tennis og badmintonfelag Reykjavikur (TBR), has almost 4.000 members and is also the biggest sports club in whole Iceland.
The Icelandic badminton clubs organize many badminton tournaments for both seniors and youth every year where players from all over the world are welcome to join. Please contact the office for further information.
